Domaine de Sandar
La propriété de la famille Mathelin depuis trois générations

Wine-growing runs deep through the soul of the Mathelin family. It has been passed down from father to son for four generations, and the Mathelin name has invariably been associated with the noble art of wine-growing. It was in 1946 that young wine producer Raymond Mathelin decided to plant Chardonnay vine-stock on his clay-limestone based soils. Beaujolais, Beaujolais, vins de Beaujolais wines of Beaujolais

Yielding fruitiness, supplness and finesse, clay is the perfect companion of this particular grape variety. For his time, Raymond Mathelin was a trail blazer, paving the way for what was to become the famous white Beaujolais in the southerly part of the Beaujolais region known as "the land of golden stones". Whilst continuing to tend to his vines for another fifteen years, he worked simultaneously towards spreading the Beaujolais name. It was in 1972 that, with his son Roland, he founded the company Raymond Mathelin et Fils which was destined to focus its attention on merchant trading and wine-bottling, catering for the individual needs of other wine-growers in the Beaujolais area. Marie Noëlle in 1974, Régis in 1983 and Rémi in 1984 in turn contributed their skills, thereby forming a purely family-run company. Beaujolais, Beaujolais, vins de Beaujolais wines of Beaujolais
